Because our wifi was inconsistent, this post may show up out of chron order. It is the post for Day 2--Friday, May 15.

We'd watched the 10-day forecast all week and expected 90% chance of rain for Friday. We walked about 10 miles in and out of windy squalls. Auvillar is a hilltop village. Nevertheless we climbed up the far side of it. Just as we started down a steep woodsy path, the first squall hit
Ponchos flapping, and rainbow above us, we made it through to a patch of sunshine. We crossed mostly fields of grains. The panoramas were dramatic. Clouds rolled in, rains too, and then blew past.
We arrived in Miradoux at 2:00 and had an hour for beer and cheese before our chamber d'hôtes opened. Over beer, with our new friends from Seattle, we met 4 young French guys on a weeklong hike. One is deaf. We had great fun using sign language, French, and English among the 8 of us
Our room was the best because we did not have to climb the ladder-like spiral staircase. We had the first floor room. Nice! A French couple we'd met the first night at dinner in the garden in Moissac showed up and we had a good Happy Hour of wine , cheese, and sausage... Leftovers from all our picnic fixings.
The hosts prepared dinner family style, a pressure cooker full of beef stew. Not great, but abundant.
